सूक्तिमुक्तावली - माया

क्रीडन्तीं भगिनीं स्वां सिंहमुखं धारयन्भीमः
    आक्रन्दयति पुनस्तां कुरुते विभयां स्वरूपदर्शनतः ।
एवं स्यात् परमात्मा मायावृतिधृक् भयं तथा शोकं
    जनयत्यावृतिहीनः सदा प्रियात्मा परम सुखदश्च ॥

krIDantIm bhagiNIm svAm simha mukham dhArayan bhImaH
    aakrandayati punaH tAm kurute vibhayaam svarUpa darshanataH ।
evam syAt paramAtmA mAyAvRutidhRuk bhayam tathA shokam
    janayati aavRutihInaH sadA priyAtmA parama sukhadashcha ॥

The big brother goes in front of his little sister wearing a Lion's mask. She will be scared and starts crying. At that moment, he will remove the mask and show his pleasant face which will drive away all fear from the sister as she feels secured. Just like that God creates this illusion and generates a lot of fear and grief in our lives. But when we can see him in real form, there will be no fear and endless happiness.

अन्योक्तिस्तबक - परिभ्रमण

अत्रामोदमरंदयोर्न कणिका कोषांतरस्थायिनी
    पत्रच्छत्रपरंपराऽपि विफलारंभा कियद्वर्ण्यताम् ।
एतत्सर्वमपूर्वशिल्परचनाचातुर्यमुच्चावचं
    किं मोहादलिपुत्र चित्रकमले भूयः परिभ्राम्यसि ॥

atra amoda marandayoH na kaNikA koShAntara sthAyinI
    patracChatra paramparA api viphalArambhA kiyad varNyatAm ।
etat sarvam apUrva shilpa rachanA chAturyam ucchAvacham
    kim mOhAd aLiputra chitra kamale bhUyaH paribhrAmyasi ॥

Oh! baby bee. You are still very young and should be living in your cell. You do not know that this lotus is a mere painting and has neither the fragrance or the nectar. It does not have petals or the leaves. How can I say that your efforts will go waste? This lotus is only showing off the supreme craft of a painter. Why are you going around this painting which is a mere illusion. (World being the painting, God being the creator and we being the bees.)

सुभाषितसुधानिधि - दम्भ

लोभः पितातिवृद्धो जननी माया सहोदरः कूटः |
भ्रुकुटीरचना च विद्या पुत्रो दम्भस्य हुंकारः ||

- सुभाषितसुधानिधि

This is the verse that enumerates the relatives of deceit. Greed is his father, illusion his mother, fraud is his brother, art of making eyebrows knot is his education and grunting is his son. Such is the nature of his company.
