Sun rays can reach anywhere. But they are specially present (reflect from) mirror, water or milk. Just like that God is present everywhere. But he makes his presence explicit in the hearts of his true devotees.

In a wealthy man's house servants work all week and are very happy on the day of weekly holiday. Just like that we should work hard in this world and rest at the feet of the God happily after we have served all our duties earnestly.

पश्चाद्वैजिज्ञासा प्रभवति तस्माच्च भक्तिविज्ञानम् ॥

pashchAt vaijijnaasaa prabhavati tasmat cha bhakti vijnaanam ॥

At dawn before the sunrise, you will see beautiful red rays of Sun from the east. Then you will see the pleasant golden glow of the Sun and in time you will see the Sun in full brightness. The progression is similar to devotion towards God. First one leads his life morally. Then he starts thinking about God and finally realizes his existence through pure devotion.

When a stone is put in water, it will not melt for years. If you put a lump of mud, it will dirty the water almost immediately. This is the difference between a real devotee and a fake one. A real devotee will hold his belief in God through all miseries, troubles and illusions. A fake devotee will abandon his beliefs at the slightest discomfort.

In the village ladies can carry pots of water stacked on top of one another with ease. While they carry, they can talk to each other and it seems as though the pots are not bothering them. Not a drop of water spills over too. We must go about out worldly existence like that. One must not stray from the path of morality even when carrying a lot of load and balancing responsibilities.

लभते न तावदेषा पश्चात्पुष्पस्थिता तूष्णीम् ।

वादङ्करोति भक्तेः स्वादं नाऽप्नोति तद्गतौ शान्तः ॥

madhu makShikaa sa shabdam samantatotati suma rasa asvaadanam
labhate na taavadeShaa pashchat puShpastithaa tUShNIm ।
bhunkte tadvat manujaH sasambhramaH sarvadaa asthira prajnaH
vaadankaroti bhakteH svaadam na aapnoti tadgatau shaantaH ॥

A bee will make a lot of noise till it sees a flower. Once it see it, it will quietly sit over it and suck the nectar. A man who is not knowledgeable about god is also thus - will make a lot of noise and arguments. Once he seeks God, he will be quiet and enjoy the solitude with Him.
