Let the God who is composed of all eight factors protect us - that which was created first (water), that which will take our ritualistic offerings to Gods (fire), that which is the owner of itself (energy), that which splits day and night (sun and moon), that which is the meaning of all words, that which has enveloped entire world (sky), that which causes the seeds to sprout (earth), that which gives life to all beings (air).
- Shakuntala
श्रुतिविषयगुणा याः स्थिता व्याप्य विश्वम् means that which has got sound as its quality and that which has enveloped entire world (sky) and not as it is given here. श्रुति = ear विषय = subject. Subject of ear is sound. The word श्रुति here has got no connection with meaning of words.
