अत्रि संहिता - दम

बाह्यमाध्यात्मिकं वाऽपि दुःखमुत्पाद्यते परैः ।
न कुप्यति न चाहंति दम इत्यभिधीयते ॥

bAhyam AdhyAtmikam vA api duHkham utpAdyate paraiH ।
na kupyati na chAhanti dama iti abhidhIyate ॥

Others may give you grief mentally or bodily. One is called self restraint when he neither gets angry or vows revenge.

अत्रिसंहिता - गुरु ऋण

एकमप्यक्षरं यस्तु गुरुः शिष्ये निवेदयेत् ।
पृथिव्यां नास्ति तद्द्रव्यं यद्दत्वा ह्यनृणीभवेत् ॥

- अत्रिसंहिता

Even if the teacher has taught you just one letter he has helped you a lot. This help can not be repaid by giving any gift in this world.

अत्रिसंहिता - दया

परस्मिन् बंधुवर्गे वा मित्रे द्वेष्ये रिपौ तथा ।
आत्मवद्वर्तितव्यं हि दयैषा परिकीर्तिता ॥

- अत्रिसंहिता

He who treats everyone like himself can be called as compassionate. The word 'everyone' includes strangers, relatives, friends, those who hate him and enemies

अत्रिसंहिता - दान

अहन्यहनि दातव्यं अदीनेनांतरात्मना ।
स्तोकादपि प्रयत्नेन दानमित्यभिधीयते ॥

- अत्रिसंहिता

It should not matter if you are poor. If you do not feel self-pity and help others even with the little that you have, then it is called real donation. [There is nothing great in donating excess money. It is one's duty to do so]

अत्रिसंहिता - शौच्य

अभक्ष्यपरिहारश्च संसर्गश्चाप्यनिन्दितैः ।
आचारेषु व्यवस्थानं शौचमित्यभिधीयते ॥

- अत्रिसंहिता

One must not eat bad food. One must befriend virtuous people. One must always follow the rules of moral conduct. These three habits constitute moral cleanliness.

अत्रिसंहिता - दक्षराजः

दुष्टस्य दण्डः सुजनस्य पूजा
    न्यायेन कोशस्य च संप्रवृद्धिः |
अपक्षपातोऽर्थिषु राष्ट्ररक्षा
    पञ्चैव यज्ञाः कथिता नृपाणाम् ||

- अत्रिसंहिता

The following are the five pious duties of a king - punish the guilty, honor the rich, collect tax and enhance wealth without troubling the subjects, be impartial while giving judgment, defense of the state.

अत्रिसंहिता - भिक्षुकः

शास्त्रेषु हीनाः कवयो भवन्ति
    कवित्वहीनस्य पुराणभट्टाः |
पुराणहीनाः कृषका भवन्ति
    भग्नाः कृषेर्भगवता भवन्ति ||

- अत्रिसंहिता

Those who are not well versed with the scriptures will become poets. Those who are not poetic will at least be able to recite the puranas (mythological stories). Those who can not do that will become agriculturists. Those who can not do agriculture, will roam villages asking for alms.
