सम्योचितपद्यमालिका - क्षांति दया

क्षांतितुल्यं तपो नास्ति संतोषान्न सुखं परम् ।
नास्ति तृष्णासमो व्याधिर्न च धर्मो दयापरः ॥

kShAntitulyo tapo nAsti santoSha anna sukham param ।
nAsti tRuShNaa samo vyAdhiH na dharmo dayA paraH ॥

There is no greater penance than to forgive; no greater happiness than having food to eat; no greater disease than desire and no greater dharma (moral code for life) than being compassionate.

पद्मनंदनस्य वैराग्य शतक - कलि

हृदयं सदयं यस्य भाषितं सत्यभूषितम् ।
कायः परहितोपायः कलिः कुर्वीत तस्य किम् ॥

hRudayam sadayam yasya bhAShitam satyabhUShitam ।

Kali (who can corrupt anyone) will not be able to do anything to a person who has compassion in his heart, truth in his words and uses his body to help others.

यदृच्छयोपलब्धेन संतुष्टो मितभुञ् मुनिः ।
विविक्तशरणः शांतो मैत्रः करुण आत्मवान् ॥

yadRucChayaH upalabdhena santuShTo mitabuk muniH ।
vivikta sharaNaH shAnto maitraH karuNa AtmavAn ॥

He is considered to have known his self if he can - be satisfied by windfall that happens once in a while (not greedy), eats less, lives a life of a hermit, likes to live by himself, peaceful, greets everyone friendly and shows compassion towards everyone.

शिवापराधक्षमापणस्तोत्र - पौरोहित्यं

पौरोहित्यं रजनिचरितं ग्रामणीत्वं नियोगो
    माठापत्यं ह्यनृतवचनं साक्षिवादः परान्नम् ।
ब्रह्मद्वेषः खलजनरतिः प्राणिनां निर्दयत्वं
    मा भूदेवं मम पशुपते जन्मजन्मांतरेऽपि ॥

paurohityam rajani charitam grAmaNItvam niyogo
    maThApatyam hi anRutavacanam sAkShivAdaH parAnnam ।
brahmadveShaH khalajanaratiH prANinAm nirdayatvam
    mA bhUdevam mama pashupate janma janmaantare api ॥

Oh my lord who is the god of all beings, spare me from these in this and any further lives - being a leader, having to walk at night, being a village head, slavery, head of mutt, having to tell a lie, having to give testimony as a witness in any proceeding, living on other's mercy, enmity of a brahmin, friendship of wicked people, lacking compassion towards animals.

अविमारक - क्षमया जय विप्रेंद्रान्

क्षमया जय विप्रेंद्रान् दयया जय संश्रितान् ।
तत्त्वबुद्ध्या जयात्मानं तेजसा जय पार्थिवान् ॥

tattvabuddhyA jaya AtmAnam tejasA jaya pArthivAn ॥

Brahmins must be won over by patience, refugees by compassion, self by wisdom and philosophy, other kings by valour and brilliance.

वाचा निर्मलया सुधामधुरया यां नाथ शिक्षामदाः
    तां स्वप्नेऽपि न संस्मराम्यहमहंभावावृतो निस्त्रिपः ।
इत्यागःशतशालिनं पुनरपि स्वीयेषु मां बिभ्रतः
    तत्त्वो नास्ति दयानिधिर्यदुपते मत्तो न मत्तः परः ॥

vAchA nirmayA sudhAmadhurayaa yAm nAtha shikShAm adAH
    tAm svapne api na samsmarAmi aham ahambhAvRuto nistrapaH ।

     tattvo nAsti dayAnidhiH yadupate patto na mattaH paraH ॥

मुक्तिमिच्छसि चेत्तात विषयान् विषवत्त्यजेः ।
क्षमार्जवदया शौचं सत्यं पीयूषवत् पिबेः ॥

If you want to attain salvation, then you should shun sensory pleasures as if it were poison. You must embrace forgiveness, simplicity, compassion, cleanliness, truth as if it were elixir.

मनुस्मृति - अहिंसा

योऽहिंसकानि भूतानि हिनस्त्यात्मसुखेच्छया ।
स जीवंश्च मृतश्चैव न क्वचित्सुखमेधते ॥

He who kills innocent animals like a deer for fun (or his happiness), will not be happy when he is alive or dead.

यो बन्धनवधक्लेशान् प्राणिनां न चकीर्षति ।
न सर्वस्य हितप्रेप्सुः सुखमत्यन्तमश्नुते ॥

यत् स्यादहिंसासंयुक्तं स धर्म इति निश्चयः ।
अहिंसार्थाय भूतानां धर्मप्रवचनं कृतम् ॥

That which believes in non-violence, compassion and kindness is said to in accordance with Dharma. No doubt about that. In fact all scriptures that preach Dharma have always preached against violence.

अत्रिसंहिता - दया

परस्मिन् बंधुवर्गे वा मित्रे द्वेष्ये रिपौ तथा ।
आत्मवद्वर्तितव्यं हि दयैषा परिकीर्तिता ॥

He who treats everyone like himself can be called as compassionate. The word 'everyone' includes strangers, relatives, friends, those who hate him and enemies

न हीदृशं संवननं त्रिषु लोकेषु विद्यते ।
दया मैत्री च भूतेषु दानं च मधुरा च वाक् ॥

There can not be better qualities found in the beings of all three worlds than these - compassion, friendship, selfless charity and sweet words.

तपः शौचं दया सत्यं इति पादाः कृते कृताः ।
अधर्मांशैस्त्रयो भग्नाः स्मयसंगमदैस्तव ॥

Penance, cleanliness, compassion and truth were the feet on which the Kruta Yuga world stood. By the influence of adharma (sin) three of them are destroyed in present time.

दानं दमो दया क्षान्तिः सर्वेषां धर्मसाधनम् ॥

Non violence, truth, refraining from any stealing, cleanliness (morally as well as physically), control over senses, charity, self restraint, compassion, patience (and forgiveness) are the ways one can adopt to follow Dharma.
