समयोचितपद्यमालिका - नीचः


उष्ट्राणां च विवाहेषु गीतं गायन्ति गर्दभाः ।
परस्परं प्रशम्सन्ति अहो रूपमहो ध्वनिः ॥

uShTrANAm cha vivAheShu gItam gAyanti gardabhAH ।
parasparam prashamsanti aho rUpam aho dhvaniH ॥

In the wedding of camels, the donkeys are singing. They are praising each other. Oh! What a beauty! What a voice!

इदमेव हि पाण्डित्यं चातुर्यमिदमेव हि ।
इदमेव सुबुद्धित्त्वमायादल्पतरो व्ययः ॥

idameva hi pANDityam chAturyam idameva hi ।
idameva subuddhitvam AyAd alpataro vyayaH ॥

This is scholarly wisdom. This is intelligence. This is called having a sound mind - Never let expenditure grow bigger than income.

समयोचितपद्यमालिका - योजकः


अमंत्रमक्षरं नास्ति वनस्पतिरनौषधम् ।
अयोग्यः पुरुषो नास्ति योजकस्तत्र दुर्लभः ॥

amantram akSharam nAsti vanaspatiH anauShadham ।
ayogyaH puruSho nAsti yojakaH tatra durlabhaH ॥

There is no letter in the alphabet that never occurs in any verse. No herb exists that is not part of some medicine. Likewise, no person is completely useless. It is however difficult to find a manager who can use him appropriately.

स्मयोचित पद्यमालिका - धर्मसंग्रहः


अनित्यानि शरीराणि विभवो नैव शाश्वतः |
नित्यं संनिहितो मृत्युः कर्तव्यो धर्मसंग्रहः ||

This body does not last for ever. Wealth is temporary. Death is approaching you every day. Hence get involved in following Dharma as if there is no tomorrow. Do not put off noble duties to tomorrow

समयोचित पद्यमालिका - धर्माचरण


अजरामरवत् प्राज्ञो विद्यामर्थं च साधयेत् |
गृहीत इव केशेषु मृत्युना धर्ममाचरेत् ||

Virtuous men go about collecting knowledge and wealth as if they will live for ever. When it comes to following Dharma, they never procrastinate. They perform their duties as if death is holding them by their hair.
