mRidango mukhalepena karoti madhura dhvanim ॥

- subhAShitaratnasamucchaya

Who in this world can not me brought under control by filling their mouths with food? (by bribing). When the Mridanga's face is smeared well, it starts making melodious sounds.

Literally, "piṇḍam" means "dough" does it not? Then, the English "dough" meaning "money" fits in with the suggested meaning of "bribe." Thank you for this gem.
