- bhAgavata

Who is poor - he who is not satisfied. Who is pitiable - who has not overcome his senses. Who is the king - he whose mind does not run behind material pleasures. Running behind pleasures is a sure path to destruction.

kAkamAmsam shunocChiShTam svalpam tadapi durlabham ।
bhakShitenApi kiM tena tRuptiH yena na jAyate ॥

- panchatantra, mitrabheda

It is meat from a crow. Left over after a dog has feasted on it. It is very little. Even that is not easy to get. If I eat that, it will not even satisfy the slightest hunger. Why should I even eat it if it is not able to quench any hunger? At a higher level of consciouses, all worldly pleasures seem too insignificant as this.
