बोधिचर्यावतार - मानुष्यं

मानुष्यं नावमासाद्य तर दुःखमहानदीम् ।
मूढ! कालो न निद्राय इयं नौर्दुर्लभा पुनः ॥

mAnuShyam na avamAsAdya duHkha mahAnadIm ।
mUDha! kAlo na nidrAya iyam nauH durlabhA punaH ॥

A human birth is very rare and one must find himself fortunate. Once born as a human, we should try to cross the river of misery (endless cycle of births). You fool! this is not the time to waste by sleeping. We may not get this boat again.
