मनुस्मृति - क्षांत्या शुद्ध्यंति विद्वांसो

क्षांत्या शुद्ध्यंति विद्वांसो दानेनकार्यकारिणः ।

- मनुस्मृति

pracChanna pApA japyena tapasA vedavettamaaH॥

A scholar cleanses himself by forgiving. A sinner by resorting to charities. A secret sin is cleansed by meditation. Those who understand the vedas cleanse themselves by penances.

What is the use of logic that is only used to argue? What is the use of having mastery over meters of poetry? What is the use of drinking elixir? What is the use of reciting Vedas many times? What is the use of practicing the craft of charm? If one does not have devotion towards God at heart, where there is ability to know everything in all worlds.

If one controls his mind (which runs in all directions) by meditating, just like an elephant is controlled by tying ropes, then there is no place for fear. All good things will follow you.

Wealth is as fickle as a bubble on water surface. The body is as uncertain as flick of a flame. Youth is as reliable as the trembling look from the corner of the eye of a damsel. The strength in your arms are like lightning. Given all these uncertainties, one must accumulate good karma as early as possible. Start doing some charity, meditation, penance and other good deeds to earn some good karma.

अत्रिस्मृति - ध्यान

ध्यानमेव परो धर्मो ध्यनमेव परं तपः ।
ध्यानमेव परं शैचं तस्माद्ध्यानपरो भवेत् ॥

- अत्रिस्मृति

Meditation is the greatest code of life. It is the best penance. It is the best cleansing. Hence learn to (and do)meditate.
