सम्योचितपद्यमालिका - क्षांति दया

क्षांतितुल्यं तपो नास्ति संतोषान्न सुखं परम् ।
नास्ति तृष्णासमो व्याधिर्न च धर्मो दयापरः ॥

There is no greater penance than to forgive; no greater happiness than having food to eat; no greater disease than desire and no greater dharma (moral code for life) than being compassionate.

नरस्याभरणं रूपं रूपस्याभरणं गुणः ।

A man is decorated with his beauty. Beauty is decorated by good character. Good character is decorated by having the right knowledge. Knowledge is decorated by learning to forgive.

क्षांत्या शुद्ध्यंति विद्वांसो दानेनकार्यकारिणः ।

He who forgives, will glow with brilliance similar to that of the pleasant morning Sun. Even the all powerful God will be pleased very soon with people who forgive.

    यदेनं क्षमया युक्तमशक्तं मन्यते जनः ।

    क्षमा गुणो ह्यशक्तानां भूषणं क्षमा ॥

People who forgive have one and only one drawback - people see them as lacking abilities (the sting). In fact, you can not hold it against them. Forgiveness is not a weakness, it is the greatest strength. It is a noble quality when found in the weak; a decoration (ornament) when found in the mighty.

धृतिः क्षमा दमोऽस्तेयं शौचमिन्द्रियनिग्रहः ।
धीर्विद्या सत्यमक्रोधो दशकं धर्मलक्षणम् ॥

These are the ten qualities of Dharma (moral code of life): Courage, forgiveness, austerity, never stealing, cleanliness, control of senses, a balanced mind, good education, truth, being never angry.
