भागवत - आत्मवान्


यदृच्छयोपलब्धेन संतुष्टो मितभुञ् मुनिः ।
विविक्तशरणः शांतो मैत्रः करुण आत्मवान् ॥

yadRucChayaH upalabdhena santuShTo mitabuk muniH ।
vivikta sharaNaH shAnto maitraH karuNa AtmavAn ॥

He is considered to have known his self if he can - be satisfied by windfall that happens once in a while (not greedy), eats less, lives a life of a hermit, likes to live by himself, peaceful, greets everyone friendly and shows compassion towards everyone.

कलिविडंबन - यति


यदि न क्वापि विद्यायां सर्वथा क्रमते मतिः ।
मांत्रिकास्तु भविष्यामो योगिनो यतयोपि वा ॥

yadi na kvApi vidyAyaam sarvathA kramate matiH ।
mAntrikAstu bhaviShyAmo yogino yatayo api vA ॥

We could not learn any of the education streams since we could not understand them. But we will show off as the most knowledgeable people - magicians, saints or religious heads. That is when you know that you are living in the epoch of Kali (present times).

तृणपर्णोदकाहाराः सततं वनवासिनः ।
जंबूकाखुमृगाद्यश्च तापसास्ते भवन्ति किम् ॥
