सुभाषितरत्नभाण्डागार - फलकालमपेक्षते

शुभं वाप्यशुभं कर्म फलकालमपेक्षते ।
शरदैव फलत्याशु शालिर्न सुरभौ क्वचित् ॥

Be it auspicious or not - results will come only when the time is right. Paddy grows well in sharat season(when there is no rain) and not when it is vasanta season(spring, when everything else blooms).

मेघदूत - चक्रनेमिक्रमेण

कस्यैकांतं सुखमुपनतं दुःखमेकांततो वा ।
नीचैर्गच्छत्युपरि च दशा चक्रनेमिक्रमेण ॥

nIchaiH gacchati upari cha dashaa chakranemikrameNa ॥

Who in this world can live always in good fortune or always in misfortune? Fortune of a person is like a band on a wheel - it goes up and comes down alternately in time.

कथामन्यांस्तु गोपयेत्सर्पग्रस्तो यथा परम् ॥

Every being in this world is not free. It is always controlled by time, actions and qualities. This body is made of five elements. How can such a being ever help another being escape from this plight? Can an animal (mice) caught in the mouth of a snake save anything else?

Night passes. It never comes back. Yamuna also flows forward towards the sea and becomes one with the sea (salty). It will never come back (it will not become sweet again). Time also passes and never comes back.

रामे प्रव्रजनं बलेर्नियमनं पाण्डोः सुतानां वनः
वृष्णीनां निधनं नलस्य नृपते राज्यात् परिभ्रंशनं ।
कारागारनिषेवणं च मरणं संचिंत्य लंकेश्वरे
सर्वः कालवशेन नश्यति नरः को वा परित्रायते ॥

Rama had to live in a forest. Bali had to go to the underworld. The Pandavas (sons of Pandu) had to live in exile. The Yadavas died due to infighting. Nala was made to leave his own kingdom and live like a destitute. Vibhishana was imprisoned. Death met Ravana, the king of Lanka. Everything is destroyed in time. Which human has been able to escape the fate?
