गरुडपुराण - गृहेऽपि मोक्षः

स्वकर्मधर्मार्जितजीवितानां
    शास्त्रेषु दारेषु सदा रतानाम् ।
जितेंद्रियाणामतिथिप्रियाणां
    गृहेऽपि मोक्षः पुरुषोत्तमानाम् ॥

sva karma dharma arjita jIvitAnAm
    shAstreShu dAreShu sadA ratAnAm ।
jitendriyANAm atithi priyANAm
    gRuhe api mokShaH puruShottamAnAm ॥

It is salvation right in the middle of running household for those who - earn their living by doing moral acts only, who are always in the company of scriptures or their wives, who have their senses under their control and who loves to serve guests.

भोजप्रबंध - पुण्य

सत्यपि च सुकृतकर्मणि दुर्नीतिश्चेत् श्रियं हरत्येव ।
तैलैः सदोपयुक्तां दीपशिखां विदलयति हि वातालिः ॥

tailaiH sadopayuktam dIpashikhAm vidalayati hi vAtAliH ॥

Even if one has a lot of good karma on his side, if he follows the path of sins, then all his wealth will vanish. A wick will burn well when it has enough oil. But when the wind is strong, the flame dies even with oil.

सुभाषितरत्नभाण्डागार - फलकालमपेक्षते

शुभं वाप्यशुभं कर्म फलकालमपेक्षते ।
शरदैव फलत्याशु शालिर्न सुरभौ क्वचित् ॥

Be it auspicious or not - results will come only when the time is right. Paddy grows well in sharat season(when there is no rain) and not when it is vasanta season(spring, when everything else blooms).

पश्य कर्मवशात् प्राप्तं भोज्यकालेऽपि भोजनम् ।
हस्तोद्यमं विना वक्त्रे प्रविशेन्न कथंचन ॥

Without action, there will be nothing in this world. Even when you sit to have food, the food will not enter your mouth without the work of the hands.

सुखदुःखे समे स्यातां जंतूनां कर्महेतुके ।
मूर्ध्नि स्थितानां केशानां भवेतां स्नेहछेदने ॥

mUrdhni sthitAnAm keshAnAm bhavetAm sneha Chedane ॥

There will be happiness and sadness according to our actions. We should not expect only one kind of emotions always. The hair on our head will get the nourishment of oil on one day and get mercilessly cut on another day.

मुहूर्तमपि जीवेत नरः शुक्लेन कर्मणा ।
न कल्पमपि कृष्णेन लोकद्वयविरोधिना ॥

na kalpamapi kRuShNena lokadvaya virodhinA ॥

It is acceptable to live just for a moment doing good work than live for epochs doing evil deeds that are against both worlds.

महाभारत - पाप पुण्य

पुण्यस्य फलमिच्छन्ति पुणयं नॆच्छन्ति मानवाः ।
पापस्य तु न हीच्छन्ति पापं कुर्वन्ति यत्नतः ॥

puNyasya phalam icChanti puNyam na icChanti mAnavaH ।
pApasya tu na hi icChanti pApam kurvanti yatnataH ॥

People want to enjoy the fruits of good deeds, but don't want to perform good deeds. They don't want to be punished due to their sins, but continue committing those sins even after knowing that it is a sin.

महत्सु नीचेषु च कर्म शोभते ॥

Every being in this world is not free. It is always controlled by time, actions and qualities. This body is made of five elements. How can such a being ever help another being escape from this plight? Can an animal (mice) caught in the mouth of a snake save anything else?

चित्तस्य शुद्धये कर्म न तु वस्तूपलब्धये ।
वस्तुसिद्धिविचारेण न किंचित् कर्मकोटिभिः ॥

One must do actions with self satisfaction in mind - not with a spiritual goal. Spiritual goals are attained by contemplation and not by successful completion of crores of tasks.

विष्णुपुराण - स्वर्ग - नरक

मनःप्रीतिकरः स्वर्गः नरकस्तिद्विपर्यायः ।
नरकस्वर्गसंज्ञे वै पापपुण्ये द्विजोत्तम ॥

What gives you happiness is heaven. The opposite is hell. When you do good deeds, your conscience makes you happy. When you hurt some one, it makes you sad. Hence the Heaven and Hell are also associated with doing good deeds and bad deeds respectively.

निदानज्ञस्य भिषजो रुग्णहिंसां प्रयुंजतः ।
न किंचदपि नैर्घृण्यं घृणैवात्र प्रयोजिका ॥

A doctor diagnoses a problem correctly and makes the patient go through the pain of surgery. There is no sin attached to this. In fact, he gets a lot of good karma credit for this.

यदि नात्मनि पुत्रेषु न चेत्पुत्रेषु नप्तृषु |
न त्वेव तु कृतोऽधर्मः कर्तुर्भवति निष्फलः ||

The consequences of one's mis deeds has to be suffered by him, or his children, or his grand children or his great grand children. There is no way that it will go unaccounted for.
