मिथ्याप्रशंसा खलु नाम कष्टा ।
येषां तु मिथ्यावचनेषु भक्तिः ॥

It is very hard for people to bear when others praise you falsely. But still, people love to hear the non-truth.

तावद्धर्मकथा मनोभवरुचिर्मोक्षस्पृहा जायते
यावत्तृप्तिसुखोदयेन न जनः क्षुत् क्षामकुक्षिः क्षणम् ।
प्राप्ते भोजनचिंतनस्य समये वित्तं निमित्तं विना
धर्मे कस्य धियः स्मरं स्मरति कः केनेक्ष्यते मोक्षभूः ॥

tAvad dharmakathA mano bhava ruchiH mokSha spRuhA jAyate
yAvat truptisukhodayena na janaH kShut kShAmakukShiH kShaNam ।
prApte bhojanachintanasya samaye vittam nimittam vinA
dharme kasya dhiyaH smaraM smarati kaH kEna eekShyate mokShabhUH ॥

Kama(luxuries), stories about dharma and salvation make sense only when one the carnal necessities (hunger) are satisfied. Who can think about dharma when you are hungry and it is lunch (or dinner) time? Who can even think of other luxuries of life? Who can even think about salvation?

तस्मान्न कस्यचिद् द्रोहमाचरेत् स तथाविधः ।
आत्म्नः क्षेममन्विच्छन् द्रोग्धुर्वै परतो भयम् ॥

tasmAnna kasyachid drohamAcharet sa tathAvidhaH ।
AtmanaH kShemam anvicChan drogdhurvai parato bhayam ॥

One must not offend/cheat anyone. This is in his own interest. He who offends others is always in fear of the same treatment done to him.

आसुरं भावमुन्मुच्य यया तुष्यत्यधोक्षजः ॥

AsuraM bhAvam unmuchya yayA tuShyati adhokShajaH ॥

You should show compassion and love towards all beings. You must shun any demonic qualities. God will be happy then.

It is not beauty or family that counts. It is just the work irrespective of whether it is done by nobility or a person of low birth.

tattvam Atmastham ajnAtvA mUDhaH shAstreShu muhyati ।
gopaH kakShagate ChAge kUpe pashyati durmatiH ॥

The truth is hidden within oneself. Fools don't see it and search for it in the scriptures. Just like the story of a shepherd who has the sheep in his arms and looks for it in the well.
