The following six people are known to forget those who helped them before - students forgetting their teachers, daughters forgetting about mothers after marrying, a mendicant who has no interest in sensual pleasures forgetting the ladies who gave him pleasures, any beneficiary of help forgetting the benefactor, people forgetting the boatman after crossing the river and patients forgetting about the doctor after being treated.

If a student is going down the correct path, no one will stop him. If he strays, a teacher will punish him with love. In that respect every one is free as long as they are going down the right path (of Dharma). What more freedom does one want? We are happy in this type of freedom which is in our teacher's hands.

If the students make good use of the education they got from the teacher, the teacher has to be given credit for it. It only shows his greatness. If a drop of pure water from the clouds falls as rain into the sea, it is up to the sea to see that it reaches an oyster and becomes a pearl. Only because the sea is able to do this, he is also called a gem-maker.
