Having intelligence is like having one clean (good) eye. Being around wise men is like having the other eye. If one has not got either of them, he is as good as blind. Tell me, is there anything wrong (or surprising) that such a person would stray into bad path?

We will not respect any scholar who finds satisfaction in praising a king who rules one small corner of this huge world. We will serve only that Lord Krishna who gave wealth equal to that of Kubera (God of wealth) to Kuchela in return for handful of parched rice.

Can the grains collected not enough to douse the fire of hunger in the stomach? Can the water in the lakes not quench the thirst? Can the rags found on the streets not enough to make clothes to cover us? Even when all the life necessities are taken care of by nature, why do these scholars serve the King?

A scholar realizes that the life inside our own body is itself not permanent. Why should one be sad when one parts with material attachments of the outside world?

A very highly intellectual scholar will have at least one of the below three misfortunes - short life, or poverty, or childless. Fate some how ensures that his wisdom is not carried forward to future generations.

हितोपदेश - विग्रह - शूर

प्रियं ब्रूयादकृपणः शूरः स्यादविकत्थनः ।

- हितोपदेश, विग्रह

A rich person must also be nice. A brave courageous person must never boast. A benevolent person must not help those who do not deserve. A scholar must carefully avoid contraversies so that people do not reject his idea becuase of him.

What is dharma? Having compassion towards all beings. What is happiness? Being healthy is happiness. What is friendship? Not having hard feelings towards any one is friendship. What is scholarly wisdom? The art of dissection (ability to logically breakdown a problem and its intricacies).
