महाभारत - वन - अधर्म


वर्धत्यधर्मेण नरस्ततो भद्राणि पश्यति ।
ततः सपत्नान् जयति समूलस्तु विनश्यति ॥

vardhati adharmeNa naraH tato bhadrANi pashyati ।
tataH saptnAn jayati samUlAstu vinashyati ॥

By leaving the path of morality, one can prosper, find himself safe and secured, triumph over all his enemies. But one day, he shall be destroyed completely - from root to tip.

मनुस्मृति - अधर्म पापः


पादोऽधर्मस्य कर्तारं पादः साक्षिणमृच्छति ।
पादः सभासदः सर्वान् पादो राजानमृच्छति ॥


- मनुस्मृति


If a sin is committed in an assembly (king's court), then one quarter of the sin is attributed to the perpetrator. Another quarter to the by-standers who did not appose it. Another quarter to the members of the assembly who may have the powers to stop it but did not. The last quarter is attributed to the king.

महाभारत - आदि - अधर्म


नाधर्मश्चरितो राजन् सद्यः फलति गौरिव ।
शनैरावर्त्यमानो हि कर्तुर्मूलानि कृतन्ति ॥

If you stray from path of Dharma, you will not know its repercussions right then. It is not like raising cattle whose benefits are there to be seen immediately. The consequences of unlawful acts will slowly act to cut your very roots.

भागवत - अधर्म


तपः शौचं दया सत्यं इति पादाः कृते कृताः ।
अधर्मांशैस्त्रयो भग्नाः स्मयसंगमदैस्तव ॥

Penance, cleanliness, compassion and truth were the feet on which the Kruta Yuga world stood. By the influence of adharma (sin) three of them are destroyed in present time.
