viShayAn anukUlayitum viShayiNi hRudaye vidhIyatAm yatnaH ।
dRushi deyam auShadham ko dRushye dattvA sukhI bhavati ॥

- appayya dIkShitasya vairAgya shataka

If one intends to make the external stimuli pleasant then he has to look inwards and condition the receptors in his heart. If the mind is clean and conditioned, it will not get anxious every time the eyes are attracted to something. Who can be happy if the medicine given to the eyes is applied to the objects the eye sees?

- shri shankarAchArya

After having got the rare (and most sought after) human birth, and been rewarded with courage and wisdom to judge right and wrong if you still indulge in all the material pleasures then such a bad person with bad mind will be damned.

rAga dveSha anale pakvaM mRutyuH ashnAti mAnavam ॥

- garuDa purANa

Death cooks a man's body like this - pierce it by the needle of greed, fry it in the ghee of sensory pleasures and heat it in the fire of attachment and hatred. At the end man is finished with his life.

One must get up early in the morning and think about his own wellness. Be positive. Whenever the world presents opportunities to earn some Dharma (by doing good deeds), wealth and pleasures - he must grab it. He must not let them go (in the guise of austerity).

Sensory pleasures are worse than conventional enemies. They will corrupt a person who has till then lead a righteous life. If a person embraces them with love, it will destroy him in return. It will not let go of him easily even if he wants to. Indeed, traditional enemies are better.
