The difference between the donor and the beggar can be known by looking at the position of their hands. The donor's hand point downwards and that of the beggar extends upwards. This is sometimes used as an idiom to describe a person. (Ex: Charudatta was such a good person that his palms always point downwards)

The high and indiscreet flames of the forest fire have burnt down many trees. The creepers that were clinging on to those trees are lying on the ground. It is these places that are in need of rain. But still, oh rain!! you pour water only over the cold mountains that are very high. Is this not an example of your arrogance? (misusing your power)

There is nothing more to hear (listen and learn), nothing more to implement for a man who has given up on greed and completely dependant on his lack of desire. (This is not to be confused with pessimism or lack of hope). The only aim of all learning and rituals is to overcome greed.

Oh Goddess of greed!! I salute with respect. The reason I do that is because I think you are very powerful. Under your influence even wealthy people (whose needs are satisfied) will wander in desolate areas - forts and hills (searching for money).

Oh greed!! you are usually found in people who are blinded by passion. In the fore most are - the sick people, the childless and the old. These people can go to unbelievable heights to get their wish fulfilled (to get better, to conceive and to live longer)

If one does give up greed, it does not matter (to him) if he is poor or rich. On the other hand, if one lets greed thrive, then it is certain that he will end up being its slave.

If everybody who live in the forest and eat only grass and leaves were to attain sainthood - are all the foxes, mice and deer saints?
