महाभारत - शान्ति - द्विविधो व्याधिः


द्विविधो जायते व्याधिः शारीरो मानसस्तथा ।
परस्परं तयोर्जन्म निर्द्वंद्वं नोपलभ्यते ॥

dvividho jAyate vyAdhiH shArIro mAnasaH tathA ।
parasparaM tayoH janma nirdvandvam na upalabhyate ॥

There are two kinds of origins for disease – one is from he body and the other is mental. They are interdependent one each other. Without one, the other does not exist. All diseases are part physical and part mental. Solve one and the other gets solved by itself.

Physical pain is caused by four stimuli - disease, bad luck, exhaustion (over working) or by separation from something you love.

यथामयोंऽगे समुपेक्षितो नृभि-
    र्न शक्यते रूढपदश्चिकित्सितुम् ।
यथेंद्रियग्राम उपेक्षितस्तथा
    रिपुर्महान् बद्धबलो न चाल्यते ॥

रसगंगाधर - त्रयं सुख़करं सताम्


शरीरं ज्ञानजननं रोगो विष्णुस्मृतिप्रदः ।
विपद्वैराग्यजननी त्रयं सुख़करं सताम् ॥

शत्रुपक्षं समृद्यंतं यो मोहात् समुपेक्षते |
व्याधिराप्यायित इव तस्य मूलं छिनत्ति सः ||

One must not ignore the ascendancy of a rival. People are usually in denial when they hear about their rivals making good progress. If he does ignore, his enemies will finish him - much the same way as a long ignored disease would finish him.

य उपेक्षेत शत्रुं स्वं प्रसरन्तं यदृच्छया ||
रोगं चालस्यसंयुक्तं स शनैस्तेन हन्यते ||

A person who ignores an enemy who is growing from strength to strength, who ignores an ailment due to laziness - both share the same fate. They will both be, in time, killed by what they ignored.

पञ्चतंत्र - काकोलुकीय - शत्रु


जातमात्रं न यः शत्रुं व्याधिं च प्रशमं नयेत् |
अतिपुष्टांगयुक्तोऽपि स पश्चात्तेन हन्यते ||


- पञ्चतंत्र, काकोलुकीय


Be it a disease or an enemy - it must be put out when it first notices. If it is not done, even if you have the strongest body (and a strong army) you will be killed by the enemy (or disease)
