समयोचितपद्यरत्नमालिका - पुमान् नारी

घृतकुंभसमा नारी तप्तांगारसमः पुमान् ।
तस्माद्घृतं च वह्निं च नैकत्र स्थापयेद् बुधः ॥

ghRutakumbha samaa nArI tapta angAra samaH pumAn ।
tasmAt ghRutam cha na ekatra sthApayed budhaH ॥

A woman is like a pot of ghee and man is like a ball of fire. If they come in contact, it will create havoc. Hence wise people will not keep them together in the same place.

प्रतिज्ञायौगन्धरायण - वरसंपत्तिः

कन्यायाः वरसंपत्तिः पितुः प्रायः प्रयत्नतः ।
भाग्येषु शेषमायत्तं दृष्टपूर्वं न चान्यथा ॥

kanyAyAH varasaMpattiH pituH prAyaH prayatnataH ।

Who a girl marries depends a lot on her fathers efforts. There is also a lot of luck involved. From our previous experience, these are the only two factors that determines who a girl marries - father's effort and luck.

अंत्यादपि परं धर्मं स्त्रीरत्नं दुष्कुलादपि ॥

One must have good dedication even when learning from a person younger than him. One must be open to learn subtleties of Dharma from any one. One should bring a virtuous lady into home (as daughter-in-law) even if she is from bad family.
