सुभाषितरत्नभाण्डागार - साक्षरा

साक्षरा विपरीताश्चेद्राक्षसा एव केवलम् ।
सरसो विपरीतश्चेत् सरसत्वं न मुंचति ॥

sAkSharA viparitAH chet rAkShasA eva kevalam ।
saraso viparItaH chet sarasatvam na munchati ॥

A person may be educated. But under stress if he is not able to control himself, then he will only be a 'rakshasa' - evil. But on the other hand, if a mild person is able to retain his composure he will be called 'sarasatva' even if he is not educated.

[Translator's note: Pun here is literate (sAkshara) will be evil easily (rAkshasa). But one with mild manners (sarasa) will retain his mildness (sarasatva, close to goddess of wisdom.)]
