सूक्तिमुक्तावली - ईशः

सुताननेकान्विविधैर्पायैः क्रीडासु
    संसज्य यथा हि माता ।
कार्येषु सक्ताऽपि तदार्तवाणीं
    संश्रुत्य चायाति तथाहि चेशः ॥

sutAn anekAn vividhaiH upAyaiH krIDAsu
    samsajya yathA hi mAtA।
kAryeShu saktA api tadArta vANIm
    samshrutya cha ayAti tathA hi cha iishaH ॥

A mother may have left her kids to play by themselves after tricking them in various ways so that she can get some work done. But when one of them cries, she can hear it and will rush to console. Just like that God will rush to help his devotees when they are in trouble.
