Even when the fuel is wet, it will dry as soon as you put in fire and get burnt as it is meant to. Kinship with virtuous people is also like that. Even when people are drenched(wet) with greed, they will lose their lust and anger in the fire of knowledge. Along with that they will lose their greed also and find happiness.

Devotion towards God can not be got from reading a lot of books and scriptures. A lot of scholars may get together and create the panchanga (calendar) which accurately tells when and where it would rain. All of them put together can not force even a drop of water from the sky. Just like that reading a lot of books is not enough for realization - one has to have strong devotion in God to realize the truth.

Similarly, God is everywhere in this creation (world). He is there, not in the form that we expect him to be. But if you want to see him as he is (and realize) then you have to make the effort - by listening to his stories, contemplating on his form and existence, so on.

God provides for us all. This is accepted. But that does not make him kind and compassionate. Everybody knows that every father does the same for his children - provide and protect. However, God also saves us devotees from the path of material pleasures and puts us on the good path of Dharma. This is what makes him truly kind and compassionate.

On the other hand, if you take care of it by closing the lid, or refilling often, even little water will remain for long and never get empty. Just like that one must fill the heart with devotion towards God. Having done so, if one indulges in worldly pleasures, the devotion will vanish very soon. But if you continue to be keep Krishna in mind always, then the pot of devotion will never get empty.

Yet, when they see these distractions around, they succumb to it and stray from the path of virtue.

At that moment, he will remove the mask and show his pleasant face which will drive away all fear from the sister as she feels secured. Just like that God creates this illusion and generates a lot of fear and grief in our lives. But when we can see him in real form, there will be no fear and endless happiness.

It is surprising that even learned and knowledgeable people do this.

After finding that devotion, they will care about nothing and derive all their happiness from serving the Lord.

[Translator's note: Pun here is literate (sAkshara) will be evil easily (rAkshasa). But one with mild manners (sarasa) will retain his mildness (sarasatva, close to goddess of wisdom.)]

One who collects will always be at the bottom - like the ocean the collector of gems and precious stones is condemned to the rasatala world. On the other hand the one who gives it to others will always be on top - like the clouds that roar on top of the world.

One must have attained fame in any of the below - courage, penance, charity, education or accumulation of wealth. If one is not able to do so, then his life is a waste - as if his mother gave birth to just a lump of flesh.

balavAn api ashaktaH dhanavAn api nirdhanaH ।
shrutavAn api mUrkhaH cha yo dharma vimukho janaH ॥

These things have the potential to erode the wealth of Indra (King of Gods) also - eating someone else's food, being controlled by someone else, sleeping on others bed, indulgence in other's wives, living in other people's house. One must avoid all of them.
